The 50th Merdeka celebration has come and gone in a blink of an eye. The whole of Malaysia celebrated a great golden jubilee on the 31st August 2007. The papers were filled with happy faces of Malaysians. Both young and old celebrated this once in a lifetime event. But do we know the significance of the 50th year?
Unknowingly, the press and the media have declared God’s favor over Malaysia. The word “Jubilee” was found in the newspaper on almost every page. The Jubilee Year (as I have mentioned in my previous post) is the Year of the Lord’s Favor. Once every 50 years, slaves were set free, families reunited, lands returned to their original owners and everything were restored. And after that is a new beginning. A new beginning follows after each Jubilee year. This 50th year of Malaysia’s independence marks a Jubilee Year for God’s people in Malaysia.
The Jubilee year is Biblical. It is found in the book of Leviticus chapter 25. And our Malaysian media has unknowingly declared God’s Word in the papers. This can only mean that God is telling us Christians to take this seriously.
Dr. Steve Ogan who was preaching on the night of 31st in Grace Assembly, Klang mentioned that the Jubilee year marks a new beginning. Slaves who were set free must start a new beginning, not return to slavery anymore. Lands that were claimed back by their original owners will go through a season of new beginnings. Families reunite to start a new beginning. This land of Malaysia has to be returned to its original owner.
This land has to be claimed back for God. But first we have to allow God to work in us. Where are you standing? In God or in self?
Independence brings us somewhere, but God-dependent brings us to our pre-ordained destiny.
Malaysia has gone through 50 years of independence.
This is the time Malaysia be God-dependant.
Matthew 9:37-38
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Go Harvest,
