Kung Fu Panda
One always meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.
I watched Kung Fu Panda the other day and I came across this quote by Master Oogway. He was telling this to Master Shifu. What happened was a long time ago, Master Shifu adopted a little baby tiger he named Tai Lung. Tai Lung grew up under Master Shifu’s care and he was trained in kung fu by Master Shifu. When Tai Lung grew stronger, he hungered for power and wanted to obtain the Dragon Scroll. However, Master Oogway had the ability to see through Tai Lung and found out that Tai Lung is not the suitable one to be crowned Dragon Warrior and given the Dragon Scroll. So Tai Lung went on a rampage and killed many of the citizens (mostly pigs and cute little rabbits haha) in the city. Master Oogway managed to stop Tai Lung and then put him in a prison located in the high mountaintops and guarded by 1000 guards. Master Shifu loved Tai Lung so much that he found it hard to stop him. How could he destroy the little baby that he loved so much? He regretted taking the baby into his care.
Master Oogway then told Master Shifu that Tai Lung will return and he was so terrified and shocked. And Master Oogway told Master Shifu, “One always meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.”
You see, Master Shifu thought that Tai Lung is put away in the prison forever and did not expect him to escape. However, it was his destiny to meet Tai Lung when he was an abandoned baby. It was also his destiny to train Tai Lung in kung fu. And it was his destiny stop Tai Lung. He failed once, he must not fail twice. Sometimes in life, there are no second chances. For the rest of the story, go watch Kung Fu Panda, I think I have spoilt it enough already haha.
What is your destiny? Are you taking the road to avoid it?
All of us have a destiny. Or should I say a purpose in life only we can fulfill. All of us have a purpose here on earth. What is yours? Do you know? Do you even care to find out? Or do you just want to live life as it goes and live it the way you want. Do you know you have a higher calling in life than to just grow up into adulthood, have a family, raise children and finally die? I tell you that there must to be more to life than this.
I have posted many posts about Jonah the Prophet from the Bible and I bet all of you know the story well. Jonah had a destiny, a purpose he needs to fulfill. However he chose not to heed his calling and he chose instead to run away from it. He ran and he ran and he ran as far as he could. But no matter how far he ran, he could never get an inch away from the call and purpose that God has for him.
Jonah met his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.
Are you still running?
