To The End
As the year 2008 draws to an end, many of us will be looking back and evaluate how the year has been for us. This is not a personal space that I use to share what has happened in my life throughout the year but I will encourage you to look back and remember the things that are worth remembering. Look back and see what you have achieved or from what you have fallen short. See the goodness of God towards you throughout this year and thank Him for everything that has happened.
The church’s theme for this year is “New Beginnings and New Trends in Taking Dominion.”
Look around us and we will see that there is indeed a new beginning and new trend in our life. From the political arena in Malaysia we see the unexpected change during the March 8 elections. In America we see history being created when Barack Obama won the elections. What new beginnings happened in your life this year?
This year has been a new beginning for me in many areas. Let me share just a few with you.
It is the first year I left high school and entered into college.
I got my diving license from Pastor John. We went to Phuket to dive =)
I decided to learn the art of magic so that I could use this new talent to serve God in a different way.
I also got my driving license haha.
I was Anslem Roy’s photographer for his largest illusion show in Malaysia. What an opportunity.
I am now looking back and wondering whether all I have done will bring eternal value or not. We may be going about doing almost everything we are capable of but at the end of the day what really counts is whether we are doing it for a higher purpose or for personal enjoyment. I constantly pray that I will be able to use my talents and skills to serve God in a larger capacity. In the words of Paul, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” So in whatever I do I sometimes think whether does it serve a purpose or not. I have to admit that most of the time I couldn’t care less and just go ahead and do it =)
While this year comes to an end, I look back and treasure the memories for I know what happens today and what happened yesterday will and certainly will determine our tomorrow.
I look forward to next year as I pray for new revelations and discernment. The work of the ministry continues. The beginnings of this year will bring me on its journey the next year and the year after and the year after and…
Isaiah 65:8
This is what the Lord says: “As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, ‘Don’t destroy it, there is yet some good in it,’ so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all.
