Muscles and What You Believe and Say About Yourself
Last year I was on a muscle development program haha. I came up with my own one. I use to do push-ups everyday and each session I will do 100 push-ups. There were a few days I did an accumulative number of 1200 push-ups a day! Man, I was darn enthusiastic. After each session I would stand in front of my mirror and admire myself haha. And my persistence paid off. After a few weeks I actually developed some pretty good muscles on my arms =) I still have them today. But I kind of stopped exercising already.
Do you know that there are muscles within us? They are just waiting to be developed.
Within each and every one of us, there is strength, there is power, there is courage, and there is passion. They are only waiting to be discovered, developed and strengthened. You can muster all the good within you and use it.
You will never be able to go beyond what you believe of yourself.
If you think that you can’t do it, then you pretty darn well can’t do it. If you think you can do it and you tell yourself you can and you believe you can, you can! Pastor Joyce Meyers was once a smoker. Then she started to do something different. She couldn’t stop smoking but she wanted to and she tried. Each time in her car, while driving, she would have a cigarette in hand and smoking, and at the same time she would tell herself, “I hate smoking, I don’t like to smoke.” She still puffs away and smokes while driving but while doing so she is telling herself, “Smoking is bad. I am going to stop smoking. I hate smoking.” And she continues to puff away.
Three months down the road, she completely gave up smoking.
What you say about yourself matters more than you know.
The words that we utter about ourselves are very important. Whatever we say of ourselves, we will become. It is sad to hear people say, “I can’t change. I am always like that and I will always be like that. It is hard for me to change.” They do not realize the power in the words they say about themselves. If you would only realize that you will be whatever you believe you are, you will be careful about what you say about yourself.
Talk about yourself the way you can be and not the way you are.
This is not a self-motivation post.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the game goes under strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat myself and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Pastor John, I miss you.
