Do You Really Want It ? ? ? Huh ? ? ?
Do you really want it?!
Looking out his window he sees his group of friends cycling past his house, all of them wore exuberance on their face. As they cycle past him, his friends waved and asked him to join in the cycling fun, he forced a smile and said, “It’s okay, I have some homework finish! You guys go ahead and enjoy yea.” He climbed down from the chair and went to his room. Little Johnny, 5 years old - always wants to own his own bicycle so that he can join his friends on their joy ride but he never had the courage to ask his dad.
That evening he sat at his living room eagerly waiting for his dad to come home from work. Sound of the jangling of keys was heard; the door creaks and opens, in comes daddy! Johnny ran and gave his dad a hug, and then he gathered his courage and said, “Dad, I want a bike...” Dad responded, “Cool, son. Daddy will get you one when daddy gets his pay.” Being little he knows not when payday is so he waited. Everyday he sits at the living room and waits for daddy, then he would run to his dad and ask, “Is it payday yet, Daddy?” as days pass, he grew tired of asking and finally after 3 weeks he gave ask asking and assumed that this dad did not want to get him the bike since dad always tends to love his sister more than him. Since he has stopped asking from his dad, his dad assumed that little Johnny didn’t want the bike anymore so when payday finally came he got his son a shirt. When little Johnny saw it he shouted at his dad, “Why did you get me a shirt? I want a bike!” His dad answered, “But you stopped asking.”
We are the Little Johnny in this story, we long for something and we send our request up to God. Day by day we ask and we can’t wait for God to answer us – like Little Johnny who can’t wait for his dad to say, “It’s payday!”. After a long time of asking and not receiving we (like Little Johnny) give up and stop asking. Then after a long period of time we get angry at God for His “unfaithfulness”. You shout like Little Johnny, “God! You promised! But You did not fulfill!” and God’s answers, “DO you REALLY want it? If so, WHY DID YOU STOP ASKING?”
We want to see revival among the youths! We want to see God move! We want to see God bring in the numbers! We want to see God fire up the people! We want to see God delivering us from the storm! We want to see our friends come to know Jesus! We want to see our nation saved! BUT WHY DID WE STOPPED ASKING ? ? ? ! ! !
John 16:24 promises that, “ASK and you will RECEIVE and your JOY will be COMPLETE.” Little Johnny’s joy wasn’t complete because he stopped asking. Continue to ask and you will receive. If you really want to see God move, DON’T STOP ASKING...
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
