We are back again =) First of all we just we just want to tell you that no matter what you look like, in God’s eyes, you are the most pretty and the most handsome person on earth! Come on if you say you are not that means you are mocking your Creator’s work! How is that possible?! =D
So how was yesterday’s food? Found the hidden HONEY?
If not, you have to dig deeper and find it yourselves or take the easy way out by reading this post. Well the verse in Acts 16:5 is not really hard to understand is it? Ok here goes:
Peter and Paul were the missionaries that heard their call and went out on full gear to spread the Gospel. And they were the pioneer church planters, where ever they go they will make sure a church is planted there and also make sure it grows. God was with them the whole journey through. They went through many trials and persecutions and were even put in jail many times but each time they were miraculously rescued by God.
Now we must be wondering what has those two men do in the New Testament that made such a great effect now. From just church planting in Judea to Jerusalem and now to the ends of the earth! Far out isn’t it?! How does a church grow and be able to make such a great impact in God’s kingdom? The answer to this question is found in Acts 16:5. Understand?
Note that it was written “churches” with the plural form not “church”. And it was written that the churches grew daily in numbers! Not being stagnant and just sitting down waiting to rot. And we all know that if something grows it becomes bigger right? So that is why the Gospel traveling to the ends of the earth is made possible.
But wait, what was the fuel behind the growth of the churches?
Read the verse again, a familiar word will pop out from it – FAITH.
They were strengthened in the faith. You go, “Oh! Now I know!” Yea now you know. The reason for the growth of the churches in Acts was faith. Faith is the essence of growth. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and of what we do not see! Faith is behind each and every great thing the Prophets of old has done. Faith was what made Moses crossed the Red Sea. Faith was what made Abraham left everything and followed God’s voice. Faith was what made David killed the Philistine, Goliath. Faith was what made Daniel escape the mouth of the lions. Faith was what made Sadrach, Meshach and Abednego danced in the fiery furnace. Read Hebrews chapter 11 and you will find the Bible Hall of Fame of people who had craved their name on God’s heart with their INDESCRIBABLE FAITH!
The central theme of the Bible is found in Habakkuk 2:4 which says that,
“...the righteous will live by his FAITH.”
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
The faith of the early churches was to see the rise and spread of the Gospel. Though they have yet to see the results of it, they went ahead by faith nonetheless. Their hope is for the border of the Gospel to be widely extended beyond its territory in Jerusalem and they are certain of this happening though it has not been done. Now that is an example of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11:1.
So they were strengthened in their faith. They were certain of their hope. They were rooted in the Word. They were prayerful. They were seeking God. They were enthusiastic for God. They had a vision. They were strong in God. They studied the Bible each day. They met together and prayed. They often met to fellowshipped. They were hungry to hear sermons. They prayed for their missionaries. They were hungry for God.
THEY WERE STRENGTHENED IN THE FAITH...
THEY GREW IN GOD...
SO THE CHURCHES GREW...
Hebrews 6:1
Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that leads to death, and of faith in God.
