Go and Die
GY Camp 2007 has come to an end. Months and months of planning and meeting have paid off. What seems to be a close for an event is really but the end. It marks a new beginning for some and for many it has just been "another" camp. What makes the difference?
You choosing to die makes the difference.
Throughout the camp the pastors have been sharing about the bad stuffs is life that we have to die to. The problem with many out there is that they have not yet tasted the goodness of God, which is why they are drawn to stuffs like drugs and cigarettes and drinking.
Pastor John said to die to bad things may be easy but to die to the good things in life is another matter altogether.
Money.
Money is good and money is needed in life. But many Christians are blinded by wealth and this leads to them blinding their faith as well. I see money as a huge boulder tied to our waist. When it is a small stone we can easily walk around doing our things. But once it gets bigger and bigger it stops our movement. The problem here is that many Christians have the big boulder around them that they are reluctant to let go of and this makes them stop doing what they are suppose to do – to continue running the race.
I see many Christians (or so they claim to be) chasing after wealth and their own selfish dreams and desires. I am not saying that having big dreams to be rich and successful is wrong ok, we serve a big God and we should dream big.
But the big problem is that we want to do what WE want to do when we should really be doing what GOD wants us to do. Get it?
I name my blog title "There must to be more to life than this." because I realize that there is more to life than to chase after our own desires and dreams and wealth. I realize that we should die to ourselves and take up our cross and follow Jesus Christ – to do what He wants us to do. Our lives are not really ours for the taking; remember that it is given by God to you to do something for HIM.
Luke 9:23-25
The Jesus said to all the people:
If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself.
You must take up your cross each day and follow me.
If you want to save your life, you will destroy it.
But if you give up your life for me, you will save it.
What will you gain if you own the whole world but destroy or waste your life?
Jesus wasn't speaking in riddles. Grasp it.
Go die.
