BOO!
Hey there people! =)
SRI LETHIA organized an INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING DAY on the 7th April 2007 at Klang Executive Club.
The theme for the IU Day was CHILDREN IN CRISIS but the funny thing is that everyone that went for the event came in their best of the best outfits. I saw all kinds of dresses and coats that were so beautiful. I myself wore something really formal that I seldom wear. This is the funny part; we went there dressed as though we were careless about the THEME for the IU Day.
I got to realize that we are so privileged to even have cloth to cover our body. A lot of underprivileged children out there do not even have cloth of any sort to keep them warm! Millions of children out there are suffering from pneumonia because they have to live out in the streets, in the chillness of the night, the cold reaching down to their spine, and every seconds, more than a child die because of the cold.
And here we are, having a vast variety of dresses and clothes to choose from! I heard that the whole of last week, the Sri Lethians were asking each other, “What are you wearing? What color?...” And a lot of us had a hard time making up our mind on what to wear. I have to admit, I was a little confused about what to wear. I had a choice of three outfits, an all white outfit with a pink tie, a pink shirt with pink tie and black slacks and dark green coat-like shirt with blue tie and black slacks. I couldn’t make up my mind! And there it is, out there in the world, we have children who are dying because they do not even have a shirt! How dreadful!
Next, shoes! Ah ha! I had a hard time choosing what shoes to wear too! I had three choices, my trademark black boots, a pair of formal black shoes (not so shiny) and a pair of really shiny Pierre Cardin formal shoes – I took the not so shiny one haha. And everyone was again having a headache on what footwear would fit their outfit. So there it was, at the hall in KEC, everyone was in their best clothes and best footwear. And out there, millions do not even have a pair of slippers. How pitiful.
Next, FOOD! Yup yup! Some of you are already drooling at the mention of food! Taken your lunch? Haha. Okay, first of all I would like to get something straight here – the food served at Klang Executive Club is really really BAD!!! It wasn’t that pleasing because of the price we had to pay for it. They should really improve on the food. There it was, everyone complaining about the food at KEC, even I was complaining about it. Poor Jolene couldn’t bite her chicken I had to eat it for her haha. Well, it occurred to me also that when we were there COMPLAINING about the food, out there in the world, millions of children are DYING FROM STARVATION!!! Each second, there is no doubt about it that more than one child is dying from lack of food. Can you feel the pain I am feeling now?
INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING DAY… CHILDREN IN CRISIS…Yea yea, even though the theme wasn’t really prominent that day, it is now to me. And I want to share it with you.
We had big cars to fetch us to KEC,
many children out there have to walk under the scorching heat of the sun to get to shool.
We had more than enough clothes to choose from and give us a headache while choosing,
many children out there are dying of cold.
We had numbers of shoes to choose from too,
many children out there would love to own a pair of cheap slippers.
We also had the a lot of jewelleries to pick and wear,
many children out there can only dream of having enough money to buy a pair of earrings.
We had the money to buy expensive make-ups to look good,
many children out there don’t even have the time to care for their features.
We had the food in KEC to complain,
many children out there are dying from starvation with a piece of potato to share among a family of five in one day.
And the list goes on…
Now think… Are you now more privileged? You have a place to call a home; many children out there make their homes in garbage bins and out in the streets. So who are you now to complain that you want more?
Next time you want to complain that you do not have enough,
THINK AGAIN…
Isaiah 58:7 (revised)
When you see the hungry, feed them.
When you see the naked, clothe them.
When you see the homeless, shelter them.
GOD BLESS ALL...
