Joshua 24:15
If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you,
then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…
But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua let the Israelites army from victory to victory. Joshua’s army brought down the walls of Jericho, he led his army to destroy the land of Ai, and he defeated the Amorite kings and won many other battles. But note this one thing, throughout Joshua’s numerous battles, he was fighting God’s battle and most importantly, he was serving God. Throughout the 24 chapters of this book you will see one key point that led to the many victories - Joshua was obedient and he served the Lord.
Many a times we only want to do what we want to do and what we feel like doing. In church, we serve in various ministries but not many wants to serve in the “behind the scenes” ministry. We get enthusiastic about serving in the Praise and Worship team and getting involved in big and important rallies but do we want to serve in the Follow-Up Ministry? It is only when we hear of concerts and rallies then we avail ourselves fully to help out. But what about the on-going ministries in church like the Prayer ministry?
Today this post is based mainly on the Follow-Up ministry. I have been in this ministry long enough to know that it is not an easy thing to do. I do not get it why are people so excited to get into the Praise and Worship ministry but when I ask them to look after God’s sheep, they don’t seem all excited. When asked to be in a skit for a rally, everyone volunteers but when asked to help out for the rally’s Follow-Up, no hands lifted up. Now isn’t this sad?
Now doesn’t this show we are kind of choosing what to serve in or do?
Well I am not pointing fingers at anyone but if you feel convicted pray and ask God for discernment on what to do.
And I understand well enough we are not really taught on how to do follow-up. I will sum it all up in just one word.
FOLLOWING-UP is ALL ABOUT LOVE...
Go out there and show God's love to the people around you. Talk to them, get to know them, don't just habg around with your own group of friends. There are a lot of people out there in need of a friend. You can be that friend.
And remember, by doing this, we are all SERVING THE LORD =)
Do not let this thing be an undesirable thing for you to do. So choose for yourselves today whom are you going to serve.
Serve your feelings and wantings or serve God?
It is your choice.
BLEUK!!! =D
Chose Not To Serve The Enemy,
