ATTENTION TO ALL:
PLEASE READ THIS POST!!!
ESPECIALLY MR. MIND READER.
PLEASE READ EVERYONE!!!
Especially MR. MIND READER and those who are joining in the heat of the debate in my CBOX!!! =)
“I am INNOCENT! Why are you placing unruly and untrue judges in my cbox, MR. MIND READER?!!!”
Wait... Hmm... Am I really innocent? If you have been following the heated debate in my Cbox for the past few days you will know what is it about (or you don’t? Cause I myself don’t really know too haha.)
Am I innocent of Mr. Mind Reader’s claim that we should actually stop talking behind people’s back and start acting ourselves? Let me tackle this issue today. Read carefully people, especially you Mr. Mind Reader =)
First of all what or who is the church? In the time of Acts when Paul was traveling here and there to preach the Gospel, believe it or not, there weren’t any church building at all! The church is and will never be a building. So what then is the church? Read the following two verses:
1 Corinthians 3:9
For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
The first verse tells us clearly that we are God’s building which means God’s church. The second verse gives us a clearer meaning on who the church is. Here we read Jesus’ words to Peter and also to all of us Christians. Jesus tells us that we are Peter and Peter means “rock” and Jesus goes on to tell us that on us (rock) He will build His church.
If you bring the whole Sunday congregation out from the church building and to the field, then the field is the church. If you bring them to the car park, then the car park is the church. So the when Christians gather together in one place, then that is the church.
THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BUILDING,
THE CHURCH IS THE PEOPLE.
Now we have cleared that, let’s move on. As we know, a building consists of many many stones and rocks joined together right? And when we Christians come together then we are one big church, regardless of where we meet, be it the field or jungle of coffee shop, we are the church. We are the “rocks” that form the church and note this:
NOT ALL ROCKS ARE THE SAME.
We are all imperfect rocks, no one is perfect. We are also humans who are still open to sin and the devil’s schemes. We get faulty. We do wrong. We are not perfect, no one is, not even you. How do I know?
Romans 3:10
As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one.”
We often hear of rumors of tour friends. We often get news like “Who’s coupling with who and who’s two-timing with who.” and gossip is one problem that has been going around the church for a very long while. We get more comfortable when we sit at the coffee shop with a group of friends and start a gossip. This is the world.
As I have mentioned that we often fall into sin and we are not perfect, it doesn’t mean we can go on doing what we are doing. It doesn’t mean we can go on gossiping, talking behind people’s back, backstabbing and all, no! But we have to realize that we have to change.
And this is where the CHURCH plays an important role. The church is many “rocks” joined together to form a spiritual building. And each rock is different, some with sharp edges and some with smooth edges, some big in size and some small. As we hear of the proverb, “Iron sharpens iron.” so in this way;
“ROCK SHARPENS ROCK.”
So we must sharpen each other, help each other to do the right things.
Too often we are rather good at knowing where to slam the hammer at and where to apply the crowbar and bring down each other. We know where the weak part of our fellow brothers is and sisters and we attack it, causing them to fall. This is not the way...
We Christians are all called to build up each other NOT tear down each other.
Romans 14:19-20
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God...
The verse above clearly tells us to do everything that leads to peace and to mutual edification. Mutual is a two-way thing, the Greek term for the word “edification” is to “build the house”. Simple as it that, we are to build the house, build God’s building, build each other up and most importantly – DO NOT DESTROY THE WORK OF GOD.
Let me end now with one last Scripture.
1 Corinthians 8:1
Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Let us now understand that none of us are perfect. All of us do sin at times. All of us have this bad habit of tearing each other down through gossip, backstabbing, talking behind each other’s back, lies, hatred, revenge and many others. All of us are not perfect, no one is.
BUT WE CAN ALL HELP ONE ANOTHER TOWARDS ACHIEVING CHRIST-LIKENESS.
So back to the question,
“Am I innocent? Am I innocent of gossip? Am I innocent of talking behind people’s back? Am I innocent?”
I AM... NOT...
I am also a human, just like all of you. And sometimes without realizing it, I gossip and talk behind people’s back. Not that I want to but I am not aware at times. And please bear with me; I am not perfect and so are you. But pray for me and help me to become more like Christ.
Thank you Mr. Mind Reader.
GOD BLESS ALL...
Not Perfect,
Zlwin Chew aka Pinko
The Court has found the suspect GUILTY of wrongdoings. Pinko was pressed with charges of gossiping, talking behind people’s back, scheming, lying, and so on. But since there is no one who is righteous and does not fall to sin and by the GRACE OF GOD, the suspect will be set free. This Courtroom is adjourned...
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
