This post is dedicated in loving memory of my friend,
Teh Boon Han.
17 year old The Boon Han left us on Friday evening. News was that he ran away from home on Monday with a little cash in hand, and sadly he was found dead on Friday evening in Port Klang. It was told that he committed suicide…
I do not know Boon Han much; actually I don’t really remember how he looked like. It has been five long years I left Sri Lethia and I can’t remember him well. But his name sounds very familiar. When I got the news about the death of Boon Han on Friday night, I was really depressed. I remember reading the sms from Jolene and I was totally stunned. I read the message and my heart just started pumping so fast. It is a really sad thing…
I had a little tears flowing out my eyes that night as I went home from cell meeting. I held it back as there were people in the car with me. My heart was so troubled that night. My mind was thinking about what I have heard. Whether I was close to him or not does not matter. I was and am still grieved because he is one of our brothers, someone who has a great future ahead of him if he were to just trust in God. I fought back tears that night as I was traveling home, heart saddened by such news.
Then God told me something. He brought me to the verse John 9:4,
John 9:4
As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me.
Night is coming, when no one can work.
And then it struck me. Night is indeed coming and it is near. Farmers who work out in the fields harvesting their crops can not work when the sun sets and when it gets all dark. Farmers have no choice but to quit the day’s work and go back home when night falls. No matter how much they want to continue harvesting their crops, they can’t! It is same with us; we can not continue working when night falls and everything gets dark. Now it is still day, we still have the light.
When I was thinking of Boon Han’s death, I found out that life is short and very unpredictable. One moment he was with us, the next, he is gone. So as long as it is day, we Christians must continue working in God’s harvest field. What is our job? Our job is to share the Gospel of Jesus to as many as possible and to give people a chance and opportunity to hear about Jesus. What if someone shared about Jesus to Boon Han? Things might just be different right?
So people…
While it is still day continue to do the work of Jesus.
Night is coming, when no one can work.
To my friend, Teh Boon Han and his family:
My deepest condolence to you.
John 11:25
Jesus said,
“I am the Resurrection and the Life.
He who believes in me will live,
even though he dies.”
Grieved,
Zlwin Chew.
